~God Calls Us to Worship Him~

Call to Worship    Isaiah 12

Leader

You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.”

People of God

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

Leader

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:

People of God

“Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.”

Leader

“Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.”

All

“Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in our midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

~God Renews Us in Christ~

We Corporately Confess Our Sins and Need

God of love, it is your will that we should love you with heart, soul, mind, strength, and our neighbor as ourselves, but we are not sufficient for these things. We confess that our affections continually turn away from you: from purity to lust, from freedom to slavery, from compassion to indifference, from fullness to emptiness, from boldness in Christ to fear of the world. Have mercy on us. Order our lives by your holy Word and make your commandments and your commission to go and make disciples the joy and occupation of our hearts. Conform us to the image of your loving Son, Jesus, that we may shine before the world to your glory. Amen.

We Silently Confess Our Sins

Hymn    Jesus, My Great High Priest             (CCLI#251645)

Jesus, my great High Priest offered his blood and died

My guilty conscience seeks no sacrifice beside.

His powerful blood did once atone,

And now it pleads before the throne;

And now it pleads before the throne.

To this dear Surety’s hand will I commit my cause;

He answers and fulfills His Father’s broken laws.

Behold my soul at freedom set; My Surety paid the dreadful debt;

My Surety paid the dreadful debt.

Chorus: Now I approach the throne, and I have confidence.

Jesus, my great High Priest offered his blood and died.

Now I approach the throne, and I have confidence.

Jesus, my great High Priest offered his blood and died--

For me.

My Advocate appears for my defense on high;

The Father bows his ears and lays his thunder by.

Not all that hell or sin can say, shall turn his heart, his love, away

Shall turn his heart, his love, away.

Should all the hosts of death and powers of hell unknown,

Put their most dreadful forms of rage and mischief on,

I shall be safe, for Christ displays

His conquering power and guardian grace;

His conquering power and guardian grace.  Chorus

The Grace of God in Christ    1 Peter 2:11-25

Song    Christ Our Hope in Life and Death

What is our hope in life and death?  Christ alone, Christ alone.

What is our only confidence?  That our souls to Him belong.

Who holds our days within His hand?

What comes, apart from His command?

And what will keep us to the end?

The love of Christ, in which we stand.

O sing hallelujah!  Our hope springs eternal;

O sing hallelujah!  Now and ever we confess

Christ our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul?  God is good, God is good.

Where is His grace and goodness known?

In our great Redeemer’s blood.

Who holds our faith when fears arise?

Who stands above the stormy trial?

Who sends the waves that bring us nigh

Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?

O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal;

O sing hallelujah!  Now and ever we confess

Christ our hope in life and death.

Unto the grave, what shall we sing?

“Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!”

And what reward will heaven bring?

Everlasting life with Him.

There we will rise to meet the Lord,

Then sin and death will be destroyed,

And we will feast in endless joy,

When Christ is ours forevermore.

O sing hallelujah!  Our hope springs eternal;

O sing hallelujah!  Now and ever we confess

Christ our hope in life and death.

Now and ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death.
