~God Renews Us in Christ~

The Call to Confess our Sins Psalm 11:4

The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD's throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.

We Corporately Confess Our Sin and Need

Father, produce the fruit of self-control in our lives and teach us not to sin with such abandon. We do it all so easily: pretend, lie, envy, lust, criticize, brood, ignore, deny, consume, hoard, defame, distort, make excuses, and then expect an easy forgiveness for the asking. God forgive us for our negligence of your holy character. Let us not misinterpret your patience with our sin as though it were permissiveness. When you see us sinning brashly, rise up before us as an imposing breaker of the sea. Let us know that what we hear and see and feel around us is your true and real presence, a presence at once as powerful and punishing as it can be gentle and refreshing. Loving Father, astonish us with a holesome, godly fear which will not drive us to despair, but cause us instead to number our days and get us hearts of wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen

We Silently Confess Our Sins

Hymn A Debtor to Mercy Alone (CCLI#251645)
A debtor to mercy alone,
Of covenant mercy I sing.
I come with Your righteousness on,
My humble offering to bring.
The judgments of Your holy law
With me can have nothing to do;
My Savior’s obedience and blood
Hide all my transgressions from view.

The work which Your goodness began,
The arm of Your strength will complete.
Your promise is yes and amen
And never was forfeited yet.
The future or things that are now,
No power below or above,
Can make You Your purpose forego
Or sever my soul from Your love.

My name from the palms of Your hands,
Eternity will not erase.
Impressed on Your heart it remains
In marks of indelible grace.
Yes, I, to the end will endure
Until I bow down at Your throne,
Forever and always secure,
A debtor to mercy alone.

God’s Grace in Christ 2 Peter 1:3-11

Song All that I Need (CCLI#251645)
In You is strength to sustain me,
And wisdom enough to guide my hand,
Mercy enough to forgive me,
And power to finish what You began.

Chorus: All that I need is in You, Jesus,
The fountain of grace that overflows.
All that I need is in You, Jesus
You are my only hope. You are my only hope.

In You is fullness of gladness,
And fullness of grace for every need,
Rest for the ones who are weary,
And beauty surpassing all that we’ve seen.

Chorus

Bridge: You satisfy my heart. You satisfy my soul.
You satisfy my heart, O help me always know. (2x)

Chorus: (2x)
