Prelude

When my hope is lost
And my strength is gone
I run to you, and you alone.
When I can't get up and I can't go on
I run to you, and you alone.

Refrain

'Cause you're my light in the dark,
And I sing with all of my heart:
Hallelujah! My almighty God divine.
Hallelujah! I am yours and you are mine.
This is all I know how to say!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! You're my everything.

When I'm plagued with pain
And filled with fear,
I run to you, and you alone.
When my days are few
And death is near,
I run to you, and you alone.

Refrain

When trouble comes and goes,
And when the cold wind blows,
I lift my hands up, I lift my hands up.
When sorrow knocks me down,
and You pick me off the ground,
I lift my hands up, I lift my hands up.

And I sing:
Hallelujah! My almighty God divine
Hallelujah! I am yours and you are mine.
This is all I know how to say!
Hallelujah! By the grace of God above.
Hallelujah! I shine the light ‘cause I am loved.

This is all I know how to say: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! (2X)

You're my everything.
Oh, You're my everything

~God Calls Us to Worship Him~

Call to Worship

Pastor

Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.

Congregation

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

All

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”  Our King is coming! Let us worship him together in Spirit and truth.

Rejoice the Lord is King: your Lord and King adore!

Rejoice, give thanks, and sing, and triumph evermore.

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say rejoice!

Jesus the Savior reigns, the God of truth and love,

when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above.

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say rejoice!

His kingdom cannot fail, he rules o’er earth and heav’n,

The keys of death and hell are to our Jesus giv’n.

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say rejoice!

He sits at God’s right hand till all his foes submit,

And bow to his command and fall beneath his feet.

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say rejoice!

Rejoice in glorious hope! Our Lord, the Judge shall come,

And take his servants up to their eternal home.

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say rejoice!

~God Renews Us In Christ~

Old Testament Reading   Isaiah 53

Elder

Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

Congregation

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Elder

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.

Congregation

Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

We Corporately Confess Our Sin and Need

Elder:

The gospel calls us to turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ. As we offer ourselves to him in penitence and faith, we renew our confidence and trust in his mercy.

All:

O King enthroned on high, filling the earth with your glory: holy is your name, Lord God almighty. In our sinfulness we cry to you and ask you to take our guilt far away from us, and to cleanse our lips that we may proclaim the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

We Silently Confess Our Sin

New Testament Reading    John 12:27-36

27 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!”

Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

30 Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up[a] from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

34 The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

35 Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.

Who is the King of glory; What shall we call him? He is Immanuel, the promised of ages.

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.

In all of Galilee, in city or village, He goes among his people, curing their illness.

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.

He gave his life for us, the Lamb of salvation; he took upon himself the sin of the nations.

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.

He conquered sin and death; he truly has risen. And he will share with us his heavenly vision

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.

Prayer

~God Instructs Us with His Word~

The Father’s Lavish Love - Curtis Crumpecker / 1 John 3:1

1 John 3:1

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain: Oh, love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—The saints’ and angels’ song.

When hoary time shall pass away, And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray, On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure, All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—The saints’ and angels’ song. (Refrain)

Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky. (Refrain: 2x’s)

~God Receives and Answers Our Requests in Christ~

 We Bring Our Requests to God in Prayer

When I fear my faith will fail,
Christ will hold me fast;
When the tempter would prevail,
He will hold me fast.
I could never keep my hold
Through life’s fearful path;
For my love is often cold;
He must hold me fast.

Refrain
He will hold me fast,
He will hold me fast;
For my Savior loves me so,
He will hold me fast.

Those He saves are His delight,
Christ will hold me fast;
Precious in His holy sight,
He will hold me fast.
He’ll not let my soul be lost;
His promises shall last;
Bought by Him at such a cost,
He will hold me fast.

Refrain

For my life He bled and died,
Christ will hold me fast;
Justice has been satisfied;
He will hold me fast.
Raised with Him to endless life,
He will hold me fast
‘Till our faith is turned to sight
When He comes at last!
Refrain

The Holy Heart was broken, Sent from the Father’s side.

The Son of God forsaken, The holy sacrifice.

Refrain: For me He was forsaken, For me He died alone.

My sin forever taken That I might be His own.

The Holy Lamb was stricken, Abandoned and alone.

He bore the world’s affliction, He bore it as His own.  Refrain

And when my heart is broken, Torn by my sin and pride;

The Son of God now risen Will draw me to His side.  Refrain 2 times

~God Blesses Us and Sends Us Out~

Benediction

Remember to love one another
And do what is pleasing to Him.
Be strengthened by grace,
And worship in reverence and awe
The God of peace.

Refrain
And grace be with you all.
And may the Great Shepherd of the sheep
Equip you with all things
For doing His will.
And grace be with you all.

Forget not the sufferings of Jesus,
And bear the disgrace that He bore.
Confessing His name, for Christ is the same
Yesterday, today and forever.

Refrain
And grace be with you all
And grace be with you all
