Sunday Service of Worship

Welcome

Prelude
~God Calls Us to Worship Him~
Call to Worship
Psalm 98:1-4, 7-9

Pastor
Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Congregation
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!

Pastor
Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together before the LORD,

All
For he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Hymn All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name! (297)

Prayer of Worship

~God Renews Us in Christ~

Marks of the Indwelling Spirit Romans 12:9-21
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

We Corporately Confess Our Sin and Need
Lord God, you know our sins. They are ever before you. You reconciled us to yourself when we hated you, but we fail to love one another with your reconciling love. Being wise in our own eyes and haughty in our attitudes and actions against those we refuse to love, we prosecute them for slights to our pride, both real and imagined. Rather than loving our enemies as you loved us, we seek to defeat them. Forgive us and be merciful to us. Change our hearts. May your love poured out in our hearts increasingly control and empower us to be like Christ. In his name we pray, Amen.

We Silently Confess Our Sins

Song: His Mercy Is More (CCLI#251645)

What love could remember, no wrongs we have done?
Omniscient, all-knowing, He counts not their sum.
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore.
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.

Chorus:
Praise the Lord! His mercy is more, Stronger than darkness,
New every morn’. Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.

What patience would wait as we constantly roam?
What Father so tender is calling us home?
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor;
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more. Chorus

What riches of kindness He lavished on us!
His blood was the payment; His life was the cost.
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford.
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more. Chorus (3x)

God’s Grace in Christ Ephesians 3:14-4:6

Song I Will Glory in My Redeemer (CCLI#251645)

I will glory in my Redeemer,
Whose priceless blood has ransomed me.
Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails
And hung Him on that judgment tree.
I will glory in my Redeemer,
Who crushed the power of sin and death.
My only Savior before the holy Judge:
The Lamb who is my righteousness,
The Lamb who is my righteousness.

I will glory in my Redeemer, My life He bought, my love He owns.
I have no longings for another, I’m satisfied in Him alone.
I will glory in my Redeemer, His faithfulness my standing place.
Though foes are mighty and rush upon me,
My feet are firm, held by His grace.
My feet are firm, held by His grace.

I will glory in my Redeemer, Who carries me on eagles’ wings.
He crowns my life with lovingkindness,
His triumph song I’ll ever sing.
I will glory in my Redeemer, Who waits for me at gates of gold.
And when He calls me, it will be paradise;
His face forever to behold, His face forever to behold.
