Welcome

Prelude
~God Calls Us to Worship Him~
Call to Worship
Titus 3:5

Let us call upon and worship Our God who saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.

Hymn Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven (77)

Prayer of Worship

~God Renews Us in Christ~

We Corporately Confess Our Sin and Need

Almighty God, you have raised Jesus from death to life, and crowned him Lord of all. We confess that we have not always pursued heavenly realities but have busied ourselves making a home for ourselves here on earth, laying up treasures for ourselves on earth and not in heaven. Often failing to acknowledge Christ’s rule in our lives and grieving the Holy Spirit, we have gone along with the ways of the world and failed to give him glory and obedience. Forgive us and create new affections in our hearts, that we may be your faithful people, seeking the city that is to come and obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ, who rules the world and is head of the church, his body. In his name we pray, Amen

We Silently Confess Our Sins

God’s Grace in Christ 2 Corinthians 3:1-18

Song Glorious Day (CCLI#251645)

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises,
One day when sin was as black as could be,
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin,
Dwelt among men, my example is He,
Word became flesh and the light shined among us,
His glory revealed.

Chorus:

Living, He loved me. Dying, He saved me.
Buried, He carried my sins far away.
Rising, He justified freely forever.
One day He’s coming Oh glorious day, oh glorious day.

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain.
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree.
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected,
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He.
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me. Chorus

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer.
One day the stone rolled away from the door.
Then He arose, over death He had conquered.
Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore.
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him
From rising again. Chorus

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming.
One day the skies with His glories will shine.
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine. Chorus

Glorious day, Oh, Glorious day

Sermon Producing the Fruit of the Spirit

~God Bestows His Grace Upon Us ~

Song: It’s Your Grace (CCLI#251645)

You will save whom You will save. We’re the lost and helpless ones.
The rebels and the renegades Who spurned Your holy love.
You will save whom You will save. Mercy will be magnified.
Everyone has gone astray and followed after lies.
But You have loved us and opened our eyes.

Chorus: It’s Your grace from beginning to the end.
It’s Your grace. We will never comprehend
Why You drew the ones who ran from You.
What can we do but offer You praise?

You will save whom You will save. We were captive to our wills.
And if our hearts had not been changed, we’d flee Your mercy still.
You will save whom You will save. Who can question what You do?
You’re the potter, we’re the clay. You can make us as You choose.
And there is no one who boasts before You. Chorus

You will save whom You will save. Yet the promised hope remains.
You will rescue anyone Who calls upon Your name.
You will save whom You will save; Faithful love won’t be denied.
Christ has overcome the grave, and for our sins He died.
And when He comes back His glory will shine. Chorus 2X

We Confess Our Faith: Heidelberg Catechism,

Pastor
How does baptism remind you and assure you that Christ's one sacrifice on the cross is for you personally?

Congregation
In this way: Christ instituted this outward washing and with it gave the promise that, as surely as water washes away dirt from the body, so certainly his blood and his Spirit wash away my soul's impurity, in other words, all my sins.

Pastor
What does it mean to be washed with Christ's blood and Spirit?

Congregation
To be washed with Christ's blood means: that God, by grace, has forgiven my sins because of Christ's blood poured out for me in his sacrifice on the cross. To be washed by Christ's Spirit means that the Holy Spirit has renewed me and set me apart to be a member of Christ so that more and more I become dead to sin and increasingly live a holy and blameless life.

Pastor
Should infants, too, be baptized?

Congregation
Yes. Infants as well as adults are in God's covenant and are his people. They, no less than adults, are promised the forgiveness of sins through Christ's blood and the Holy Spirit who produces faith. Therefore, by baptism, the mark of the covenant, infants should be received into the Christian church and should be distinguished from the children of unbelievers. This was done in the Old Testament by circumcision, which was replaced in the New Testament by baptism.
