~God Calls Us to Worship Him~
Call to Worship
Luke 1:30-33

“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” Amen! Let us worship our God and King!

~God Renews Us in Christ~

We Corporately Confess Our Sin and Need

You, O Lord, have promised that if we will confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins. We come in penitence asking Your forgiveness, that we may know the joy of Your presence, and the light of Your face. Forgive us, O Lord, for every unkind thought, every untrue word, every wrong act. Forgive us for we have been selfish, and have not thought of the needs of others. Forgive us for our ingratitude, our neglect of prayer, our carelessness in the use of

money, our forgetfulness of our sacred vows. O God, have mercy upon us. You O Lord are able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. To You be the Glory. Create in us clean hearts, and renew a right spirit within us for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

We Silently Confess Our Sins

Hymn All Praise to Thee, Eternal Lord (219)

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace Matthew 1:21

God did not leave us in our sins, but sent Jesus to deliver us from sin’s tyranny. God’s Word says, “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Thanks be to God for Jesus, our satisfaction, our substitute, our Savior!

The Affirmation of Our Faith The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen (*universal)

Hymn Our God Is Mighty, Worthy of All Praising (454)

Sermon The Fearless Daring of Hope

~God Meets and Feeds Us at His Table~

Hymn Behold the Lamb (CCLI#251645)

Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away,
Slain for us - and we remember.
The promise made that all who come in faith
Find forgiveness at the cross. So, we share in this bread of life,
And we drink of His sacrifice, As a sign of our bonds of peace
Around the table of the King.

The body of our Savior Jesus Christ,
Torn for you - eat and remember;
The wounds that heal, the death that brings us life
Paid the price to make us one. So, we share in this bread of life,
And we drink of His sacrifice, As a sign of our bonds of love
Around the table of the King.

The blood that cleanses every stain of sin,
Shed for you - drink and remember.
He drained death's cup that all may enter in
To receive the life of God. So, we share in this bread of life,
And we drink of His sacrifice, As a sign of our bonds of grace
Around the table of the King.

And so, with thankfulness and faith, we rise
To respond - and to remember.
Our call to follow in the steps of Christ, As His body here on earth.
As we share in His suffering, We proclaim Christ will come again!
And we’ll join in the feast of heaven, Around the table of the King.
Around the table of the King.

We Confess Our Faith Westminster Larger Catechism Q. 168

Pastor: What is the Lord’s Supper?

All: The Lord’s Supper is a Sacrament of the New Testament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine according to the appointment of Jesus Christ, his death is shewed forth; and they that worthily communicate feed upon his body and blood, to their spiritual nourishment and growth in grace; have their union and communion with him confirmed; testify and renew their thankfulness, and engagement to God, and their mutual love and fellowship each with other, as members of the same mystical body.
