Call to Worship

Pastor
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.

Congregation
Our God is a God of salvation, and to GOD, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.

Pastor
Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel, and whose power is in the skies.

Congregation
Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!

Pastor
Come, let us worship the God of our salvation in Jesus Christ, our Lord, who has received all power and authority from the Father to save.

Hymn    A Mighty Fortress Is Our God     (92)

Prayer of Worship

~God Renews Us in Christ~

We Corporately Confess Our Sin and Need

Heavenly Father, in whom we live and move and have our being, you gave your one and only Son to die in our place as the sacrifice for our guilt and sin.  In raising Jesus from the grave, you shattered the power of sin and death. Almighty God, we acknowledge and confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed; we have not loved you with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. Deepen within us our sorrow for the wrong we have done, and the good we have left undone. Lord, you are full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy; there is always forgiveness with you. Forgive our sins and restore to us the joy of your salvation; bind up that which is broken, give light to our minds, strength to our wills, and rest to our souls. Open the Scriptures to each of us, and let your word abide with us until it has accomplished in us your holy will.  In the name of Christ Jesus our Risen Savior, Amen.

We Silently Confess Our Sins

Song    Oh the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus  (CCLI#251645)

Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus, Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free,
Rolling as a mighty ocean In its fullness over me,
Underneath me, all around me Is the current of Your love,
Leading onward, leading homeward To Your glorious rest above.

Chorus: Oh the deep, deep love,
All I need and trust Is the deep, deep love of Jesus.

Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Spread His praise from shore to shore,
How He came to pay our ransom
Through the saving cross He bore;
How He watches o’er His loved ones,
Those He died to make His own,
How for them He’s interceding,
Pleading now before the throne.  Chorus

Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus, Far surpassing all the rest,
It’s an ocean full of blessing In the midst of every test.
Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus, Mighty Savior, precious Friend,

You will bring us home to glory,
Where Your love will never end.  Chorus twice

God’s Grace in Christ   Ephesians 3:14-21

We Confess Our Faith    Heidelberg Catechism Q. 1

Pastor
What is your only comfort in life and death?

All
That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.
