The Vineyard Song - (Isaiah 5) Lyrics

My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill.
He digged and cleared it all of stone, the land was good to till.
He put a wine vat in its midst and planted it with vines.
He looked for it to yield good fruit, that he might drink the wine.

Baruch atah, Adoshem Eloheinu, Melech haolam, borei p’ri hagafen.
(Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, Creator of the fruit of the vine.)

But as the vines matured, he saw how wild the grapes became.
Although, he loved and cared for them, the vines could not be tamed.
Why children of Jerusalem did not the harvest yield.
What more could my beloved do to tend his wasted field?

Baruch atah, Adoshem Eloheinu, Melech haolam, borei p’ri hagafen.
(Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, Creator of the fruit of the vine.)

The keeper of the vineyard, the Lord of Hosts is He.
The vineyard is his people, oh, tell me can’t you see.
That he was seeking righteousness and justice as its wine.
Instead he found iniquity a-hanging on the vine.

Baruch atah, Adoshem Eloheinu, Melech haolam, borei p’ri hagafen.
(Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, Creator of the fruit of the vine.)

Oh, you who seek the Lord today, the lesson still holds true.
For what the Lord required of them, he still requires of you.
Oh, walk with him in righteousness and be a fruitful vine;
and press your life into His hands and let him drink the wine.

Baruch atah, Adoshem Eloheinu, Melech haolam, borei p’ri hagafen.
(Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, Creator of the fruit of the vine.)

We bless thy name oh Lord!
Creator of vineyard and vine.
Help us to live in your love.
